Change is about the long haul. Ask the Chinese bamboo tree.

The most valuable thing that I've learned in my transition is that change is all about the long haul. At least any significant change you wish to make in your life.
Whether it's learning a new skill, learning to drive, changing gender, changing careers; you have to be prepared to be in the period of "becoming" for a long time.
I mean it's called change and not switch right? So why do people stop or get angry at their perceived lack of progress? Slow progress is still progress right?
Did you know that the Chinese Bamboo Tree takes 5 years to grow? When it's first been planted the tree has to be watered and fertilised every day for 5 years. At any point in those first 5 years if the watering or fertilising process stops, the plant dies. On the the 5th year the plant will grow 90 feet in a period of 6 weeks. Now tell me does it take 6 weeks or 5 years to grow? Some will say 6 weeks, but the real answer is 5 years. Stop watering or fertilising at any point and the plant will never be seen above the ground.
The same goes for your dreams, or anything you want to achieve. You have to keep watering, fertilising or attending to your dreams. You have to keep going when things seem difficult, when you come up against criticism, objections or obstacles.
If you stop watering your dreams, they wither and die - as with the bamboo plant. You want to grow? Continue to water those dreams.
I hope that this resonates with you and makes you more determined in the following and attaining of your dreams.
