The future is bright - The future is LGBTQ inclusive

Anyone reading this title may disagree.

You only have to look at what is happening with transgender students right to be able to use the toilets of their gender identity.

It's terrifying to see that the damaging rhetoric of the Trump campaign is continuing and he is pushing through with some of the most discriminatory and dangerous legislation the US has seen in the last decade - BUT I don't want to talk about him.

I want to talk about you - I want to talk about the future - Your future.

The thing about all of the anti-LGBTQ legislation and vilification of our community is doing is that it's actually doing us a favour. It really is.

For sure the bigots are revelling in our pain and are dancing at the fact that they are able to be openly prejudiced against us.

But it's doing something else that is far greater and longer lasting than the damaging things they're trying to do.

Their actions are unifying us as a community. It's drawing us together.

It's encouraging more people to stand up as allies against the lunacy of this outdated opinion.

I have friends who are not trans. Friends who are not even LGBTQ who not only sharing their disgust at this, they're actually campaigning - protesting and organising.

They refuse to accept what can only be described as open and shameful discrimination.

To the young people who are on there receiving end of this? I have a very important point for you.

In the next 5-10 years all of these people who are attempting to invalidate you, will either be dead or not in power. The people in power; in governments, in law, in positions of influence and able to make policy changes will be you.

Will be our generation. The generation of people who as a whole don't give a shit about what gender or sexuality someone is. Who consider people for the kind of person who they are, rather than who they sleep with or identify as.

I can't wait for this day because you are going to make the world a better place. You are going to be the in the majority. Not the minority.

Until then? I promise I will do everything in my power to spread love, acceptance and campaign for the freedom of equally rights for all of you.

Your time will come - and I can't wait to see it.
